U.S. Scientists Claim World Record In Solar Cell Efficiency

How can a new record be set when it was set last year (July 30, 2007 @ 42.8%) with the previous record (still higher than 40%) set in December of 2006 and with only 20X concentration not 326. Just another example of stalling the advance of solar to reap the trillion's of dollars still left in oil.

40% is a joke. R&D should be better invested to make 80% panels with the technology available today.
 
Considering most commercial cells are floating between 15-20% I'll take any advancement I can get my hands on.
