So I was trying to recover a rar. password, I was told to check out crark, in the instructions, it says to run "driver-timeout.reg" so I did, and it didn't do anything that I could notice. So once I gave up on getting the rar. password, I went to play some games, and now they freeze and I must force reboot my PC. How can I undo what it did?

Solution
right, editing the file shows what it does. so that is the change it made. you do have to figure out what it was at first to put it back. most likely change the dword back to 1. normally 1 means on and 0 means off.

so it turned off your graphics driver. you need to turn it back on. again not a 100% guarantee, but changing that dword back to 1 should put it back.

if not, uninstalling and then reinstalling the driver should reset it back to what it should be.

Hold up, I may have helped myself, I right clicked on the .reg and chose 'edit' and it says where it is located I think...

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers]
"TdrLevel"=dword:00000000

What an evil program... I looked at my brother's PC and that entry/key whatever wasn't even there, so I deleted the one in mine, and I'm currently installing drivers again, I'll get back to you.

no problem. glad it worked for you. for future reference, most of those cracker type programs are little more than malware delivery services. there really is no way to brute force your way into a rar file. the excryption is too good. but they offer thses things to get you to install malware in hopes of cracking a password you can't.

think about it, what would be the use of the password if a simple free program would crack it in a couple minutes?
