uninstalling and installing anti-virus programs

I need to uninstall Norton Security Internet (a trial already installed on my laptop when I bought it & almost expired) and install Avast.

What steps do I need to follow in order to keep my laptop safe?

wellwhat i always use is avg free becus it 1 of the best FREE antivirus so what i advise is uninstalling al the anivirus what you have now and installing this

You can uninstall Norton from your Windows Control Panel - > Programs (Uninstall a program). You can also use Revo Uninstaller, a free utility that will uninstall Norton and remove any remaining data associated with Norton.

I believe Norton also has a utility specifically for removing their security software, though it's seldom necessary.
