update ram in core i3 dell

we can update core i3 4gb ram to 8gb ram and tell me ddr4 or ddr3 have in this machine

What is the exact model name of your processor?
i3 -xxxx
if the digits start with 5 or lower -> DDR3
if it is something like i3-8600 or i3-7300 -> DDR4

i think the more relevant question is the exact model of the Dell system?? The processor although important does not give the information to advise on adding more ram.

The mobo is key, not necessarily the processor.
