It would not add to your "Internal" storage. If the device will upgrade to (and not rooting) then it will take up more of the "Internal" storage as the newer version uses more space.

The only way to add storage is to either get a device that has more, or add an SD card. However the SD card will only add storage for photos, files, music, etc., not apps. That will only work if using 6.0 and the phone allows for converting the card to "Internal" storage. Which I believe that phone does not allow for. Even with Android 6.
