I have an Acer Aspire 5002WLMI Laptop, WinXP, 2GB RAM, 80GB IDE HD. Can I upgrade to a SSD? If yes, what brand & size? What else do I need? How do I do the upgrade (if possible)? Thank you all!
No you can't, mainly for the reason that you have an IDE HDD now, which is incompatible with the SATA port the SSD will use. The only thing you could do is get an optical disk conversion and put the SSD in there with your 80gig as a backup. You would no longer have a CD/DVD Drive though. You will also need to upgrade Windows (make sure there are drivers available for all your hardware) since SSDs and TRIM don't play nice together with XP.
