Why is no one talking about WHY the need for the update? Why would Amazon make a product to essentially self-destruct after a certain date? Is it as idiotic as a Y2K style issue that Amazon had no foresight thinking people would use the product for more than 2 or 3 years? Or something more sinister - could this update give big brother backdoor access, and it's "submit to us or die"? I came to Tom's after seeing this story elsewhere in hopes of a more in-depth look into it, but no avail. @marshallhonorof - can you look into this?
