Hey there, first thread! So I've been using a HP dv6-2171nr as my mobile pc for the better part of 5 years now. I'm building a new desktop already so i'm not interested in buying a new laptop. Also I haven't been able to find a single person online that even has the same laptop.
Apparently the dual core 4x Arrandale Intel Core i5-430m that came with it has what cpu-z states as a rPGA989 socket, but Icecat says it has a pga988. It also has Intel HD onboard graphics.
So my question is this, can it be upgraded to any i7 at all? I had my hopes up at first about an i7-620m or 640m since they're so cheap, but after researching I haven't been able to confirm anything.
Any assistance that can be given will be greatly appreciated!
ps: I haven't visually checked if the processor is soldered on, but motherboards-laptop.com shows a [strike]nice[/strike] pretty pink socket for it. http/motherboards-laptop.com/motherboards-hp/hp-pavilion-dv6-2171nr.htm#
Not sure if images imbedded..
