usb 3.0 port not working on lenovo G50 80

Is it not working at all, with anything, or not working with a certain device? Also is it that it isn't working when the laptop is on, or when the laptop is turned off?

Mine just started malfunctioning, I think. I had transferred some data using this port, first from a camera, then from the laptop to a USB-connected backup drive. This is the port with teh blue table on AMD A8-based Lenovo G50, Windows 8.1 build 9600. When I plug it in, suddenly my USB connected mouse and keyboard (using the other two ports) start to malfunction somewhat, and I start hearing the USB connection / disconnection noise repeatedly, every 10 or 15 seconds. Just powered off and restarted, and it still seems to be an issue. Would appreciate any suggestions. I think it is updated but need to doublecheck that.
