Question USB camera & mic, Windows 11, HDMI connection

Hello All -

I have a 2025 Asus Vivobook with Windows 11, also a Logitech USB camera and microphone - combined - and the latest PowerPoint.
I can use the Logitech to provide a feed for the Cameo feature in PP but cannot find the way to use the mic audio when using the HDMI connection to the big screen in the room.

It's particularly frustrating because I managed it on an older W10 machine and a previous version of PP which, crucially, didn't have the Cameo facility.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks,

Ian

The aim is to use the Logitech camera+mic as their quality is better. The Logitech is currently shown as Default and the Microphone Array shows Enabled.

Yes, it's the default device for both video and audio. I've installed Audacity because I know it quite well and it sees the mic, the "active" light comes on on the mic but no sound is heard from it. I've checked the logitech website for driver updates - not needed. It also occurs to me that, having achieved what I want on W10, I tried the same on the W11 machine so may have buggered something up. This is what I did in W10, "To set it, right click the volume icon > Sounds > Recording tab > double click the audio device that the mic is connected > Listen tab > Check the box "Listen to this device" and right below select the HDMI audio output as playback device > Ok to apply."

Thanks for your patient help.

Ian.

If still not working, uninstall the webcam and its drivers. Make sure webcam is disconnected.

Restart and once fully running, reconnect and install drivers. Hopefully, Windows will see as new device.

Configure as default device as earlier.

By the way, what browser do you generally use? Do you use Teams or Zoom?

Hi COLGeek -

You're right, it is just ones and zeros but if they don't tell you that a Logitech C920 isn't compatible with W11 what's a poor boy to do? Thanks for your attempt to help but the solution is beyond even you. I've ordered a compatible camera.

Ian.

Logitech themselves. I searched for work arounds but didn't find anything so have ordered one that specifically says it's compatible with W11. The "staring" works but not the listening. I've spent too long trying to make it work and have better things to do with my time. Thanks for your attempts though. Ian.

Yes, it's the default. There are two versions of the C920 only one of which is compatible with W11 according to Logitech. I appreciate that there can be unofficial workarounds but I've not found one.

I've put away the laptop for the moment so can't show you the message that Logitunes threw up saying incompatible.
Sometimes this computer stuff is so confusing to the layman (me!). Plus, except for a couple of music related programmes, I've moved over to Macs and am doing this for a small club who want to have Power Point presentations relayed to another room. I cracked it with a W10 machine but they got a W11 one so that there could be a "cameo" - a thumbnail of the speaker - within the PP presentation. I've got that but no sound.
Thanks for your continued advice.
