Using Google Maps Navigator while Offline

I have an iPhone that doesn't get data. I have to get somewhere tonight and I have no idea where I am going. I was wondering if I could get directions downloaded to my phone while on wifi and still be able to get myself to where I am going without accessing the internet

You can have the directions loaded up, you just can't do anything beyond that.
