Using Windows 10, when I press the pound key a hash appears - how do I correct this?

I cannot print a pound sterling sign because when I press the pound key a hash keeps appearing.

In Windows change the keyboard language from American to British or just use alt-156 on the keypad

You can remap the keys with that, if need be. The keyboard controller or keyboard itself might be defective if this isn't a software issue.

Windows 10: Woohoo! Just found on another forum: press Windows key and space-bar together. Options on screen for US or UK keyboard. Use space-bar to select blue background for which one you want. I seem to accidently change mine every couple months. So simple!
