I'm not sure if anyone from THG will read this, but the iPhone coming to Verizon 1st quarter 2011 is confirmed. I have the full packet brochure and specs from our Verizon Wireless Account Manager right now in my hands.

So the [citation][nom]bourgeoisdude[/nom]"There's also that exclusivity contract with AT&T that's originally not up until 2012, but even contracts can be changed."Actually there have been several reports that the contract has been re-negotiated.This is the first article (WSJ not Toms) that I actually believe about the Verizon iPhone. I personally know someone that is "in the know" about Verizon plans, and he has been telling me about the January 2011 release since June. The WSJ points to "people familiar with the matter", but the pieces fit: the CDMA network will allow talking and surfing at the same time, something Apple has always touted as a superior feature of the iPhone, Seidenberg specifically mentioned in the "sprinkle of cold water" that 4G will "speed up the process", there's the reports of Verizon iPhone testing in Boston, there's certainly a demand from consumers--I think the time is right.[/citation]

It's commonly held that CDMA can *not* allow data and voice from the same baseband processor (considering no Verizon or Sprint phone allows this). Are you saying that the 4g LTE service from verizon *will* allow this if the iPhone supports it?

Haha, it' so funny to me to see people think a Droid compares to a real iPhone. You have to get the real thing if you want the serious hardware and the serious apps.

I can understand if you're stuck on Verizon, or only interested in generic hardware without, just for example, the serious audio apis, d/a-a/d converters, mics, speakers, and pro-level apps from the heavy-hitters. The reason Apple is so successful with Macs, iPods, iPhones, etc. is they forge ahead with the refining details and have already weeded out junk. Apple tries to be the best at everything it does--successfully more often than not--which is different from any other company who simply know they can sell to people who don't look very closely.

Apple is also engendering a lot of intense jealousy--I see it in comment sections in any article mentioning Apple--but it's easy to see why.

Yes. I am looking for the article that said that, but am having difficulty finding it. Thought it was CNET, but google (and bing) are failing me. Easy to find not-so-official reports to that effect online though.
