[citation][nom]tank[/nom]Actually you guys are forgetting a very import aspect of the U.S. The private health sector. Their is a reason why Canadians come into the U.S. for health treatment in areas like cancer. U.S. is the best in this aspect. Most drug research is conducted in the U.S.[/citation]

THANK YOU these guys are idiots. I couldn't have said it any better

This only benefits the wealthy. An estimated 25% of Americans are either uninsured or under insured. The US system may have the best health care in the world, but by neglecting such a large percentage of the population, on average our health as a nation is very poor.

I work with some of the best Oncologist's in the world at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. They charge $800 for a consult, $400 for a 15 min followup, no insurance accepted.

How many average Americans can afford those rates?

why the fuck did this turn into canada vs USA... canada clearly wins and besides north america in general fucking blows, this capitalism is driving this "recession" we are in with these sub-prime mortgages eventually foreclosing thousands of houses and all for what? A couple of million of dollars for some fucking asshole CEO who crafted these fucking things? Shit people wake the fuck up, buy something you can afford and dont load yourself with debt and shit you dont need.

@kingssman - although I would agree that the iphone had a huge impact in this market, I would stage large sums on the fact that this market would be flourishing today with or without the iphone ever being released. As an example of it not being the sole founder of this market, I was using touch screen mobile devices years before the iphone was even announced.

@wonspur - I agree with your idea at the end there, but not the way you laid it out.

As for the arguments of countries, unless you personally contributed to your country's economical/social status in a significant and positive way, this is a "well, my dad can beat up your dad" argument.

@soldier37 - have a bit of low self esteem complex? Or did you just feel throwing your "best and fastest" rig in gorehound's face for some intelligent purpose?

[citation][nom]banthracis[/nom]Basically, you shouldn't be bragging about the US. In almost every health and education indicator, we're at the bottom of the stack, beating basically just the 3rd world countries.[/citation]
And the fact that studies weight having nationalized healthcare as the most important thing in determining how good a countries heathcare system is, is the reason the US always scores so low. The fact of the matter is, without the US medical technologies that the rest of the world uses, their healthcare systems would be useless.

Statistics for the entire US are stupid in my opinion. Standard of living for the west coast is different then the east. We have such a large country that you even see large cultural differences coast to coast.

When you look at Detroit you would say the US is in bad shape but when you look at the medium sized town in the middle of Indiana you'd see a thriving wealthy community.

@didymus03 - i really just dont see why people make it so easy for themselves to make poor financial decisions. Banks love to create situations where they can foreclose a house or a car because they know they can make more money off of it. The introduction to credit cards was a decent proposal but no one thought of the consequences. I dont think i know more than 1 person that isnt in debt because of credit cards or other things. But its hard out there i understand, the way its setup for people it is easy to want to get dragged into a huge loan which will take you 25 years to pay off and you end up paying 3 times more than you originally took the loan out for. pretty fucked up greedy world.

@wonspur - I agree that at least the financial system in North America, "Western" Nations and... well, really the whole world is pretty messed up.

-To bring these comments back on track: I don't think Verizon NEEDS the iPhone any time soon. Their investment in Android at least up to this point is paying off well - especially when considering things like Linaro adding momentum to the already fast moving mobile OS's.

They realized that a apple logo really means nothing and there are other more worthy devices than the praised "iphone". F**k AT&T 😛
