So, how do you carry lenses in your vest? I wonder how protected they
are from getting dinged in an outside pocket of the vest.

And if it is:

The bottom pockets for lenses are big enough, but not well padded, so a
padded lens case or pouch should be used in addition to the vest. But for
carrying tons of "stuff" this vest cant be beat for anywhere near this
price.

IMHO

In my case (I have a "Bak-To-Basix" vest, that I can't find anywhere
any more; I got it about ten years ago), I'm aware the lens is in the
pocket, and don't bump anything there.
Just lucky, I guess. :)

Looks nice. Buying equipment is fun, even if it is just a vest. And
since I can't afford to go buy a new camera I am going to milk this
for all it is worth. My spouse cringes with the thought, but I am the
one who will look like a geek.

All in all, if I could be any animal, I would want to be
a duck or a goose. They can fly, walk, and swim. Plus,
there there is a certain satisfaction knowing that at the
end of your life you will taste good with an orange sauce
or, in the case of a goose, a chestnut stuffing.

When I first purchased my vest, I wasn't getting it as a Photog vest but
as a theme park touring vest. I don't like carrying a backpack with my
camera, rain poncho, and all the other stuff (bad back had something to do
with this dislike). And a belt pouch (fanny pack) is either small enough
to be mostly useless, or so huge that it makes it hard to get in and out
of rides. But I can wear this vest with more than I ever carried in either
the pack or pouch and still be comfortable and flexable enough to get in
and out of rides. But now that I am concentrating on DSLR photography here
at home, I realized that I can also use this vest here at home as a
wearable camera bag (Of course the item name of "photojournalist's vest"
might have had some effect on this realization). :)

One nice thing about a vest with the equipment spread around and held
close to the body, strain on back and sholders is greatly reduced (or
eliminated).

Make sure you get one with a brand name on it - you'll have to pay more
for it but it'll be worth it.

ROTFLMAO. You mean it is not enough to advertise on my shirt and
pants?

Ok, so here is a survey: would you pay more or less for your camera if
the company name was removed? Would it matter what company made it?

You might find your old film SLR in a closet one day, blow the dust
off and not remember what make it is.

<G>

Nikon realizes this and put BRIGHT F'IN YELLOW letters all over the
straps. They also stamp their name on the image too (EXIF).
