Vga cord for laptop to tv

Hello,
when i connect my Vostro 1500 laptop to my new flat screen sharp tv,it tell me it is not compartible but the menu tells me i can connect the tv to a pc

If you are running Windows 7, try Win+P. That will treat the display like a projector and works very well.
