Hi! I just started a YouTube channel and have found my old and cheap Toshiba satellite laptop my parents bought me when I moved back home is very difficult to get any editing and work done. I'm shopping around for a new laptop but I'm also very limited on budget (I'd like to pay as little as possible, but I can spend roughly $700 max).

What I'd like to know, is what specs should I look at for this laptop? I've been researching and it seems there's some conflicting information as everyone has their own opinions as to what are the better specs between price points. I used to know this stuff really well but I've been away from it for too long and it's all greek to me now!

I am considering getting a portable HD so I can move footage I've already used and posted on YouTube there instead of taking up space on my HD.

Any help is extremely appreciated!

PS. There's a part of me who would REALLY like to also be able to play my Sims games again...but that's a bonus. This will be used primarily for video editing and graphic design. I also assume if it can handle video editing and graphic design, it can handle The Sims 4 LOL!

video editing is still CPU heavy, hyperthreading new Intel/Ryzen is better and 16gb ram+SSD.

If US -> https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?sdtid=12135037&SID=f188d5f0d17111e8924daa402ec8805f0INT&AID=10446076&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-Slickdeals%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16834316529&cm_sp=

Add another 8gb ram later on.
