Hi all, any advice appreciated. I have a Vizio P65-F1 that suddenly has a 'black' screen. Still has sound. I looked around a little online, and seem to think the power supply must be the issue, but before I went ahead and ordered the parts, I wanted to check if anyone though that was incorrect.
I have attached a picture of the black screen, which is not really black at all - these white cloudy things move around. Seems responsive to the remote, i.e. I can make them move as if things are showing on the screen, but they move without the remote as well. I have a short video, in a link below.

I cannot make out any images with a flashlight in a dark room, as suggested to diagnose if it is something else.

Any help on whether this is something other than the black screen, or if the power supply board is the correct part to order, would be much appreciated.

There is no real place to know for sure without starting to replace parts to rule out issues. It is most likely a failed screen but really tough to know for sure.

In most cases you are better off just replacing it if it's out of warranty, find a used working set somewhere instead of spending money on parts that have a decent chance of not fixing it. Then you still have a dead TV + cost of parts. And it's almost impossible to find working replacement screens for TVs these days.

OK thanks. I was interested in fixing it out of interest, and then I could sell it on, or use in the spare room. A failed screen does not equal the faulty power supply I assume?

Correct, if the screen looks like it's actually coming on then the power supply should not be at fault. Maybe the system board or the panel itself. But finding a replacement panel is hard and is likely to cost as much as replacing it.

Did you ever figure out what was ailing the TV?

We have the same model, it's only been 2.5 years of light usage and the other night turning it on I have this exact problem. I'm pissed about how short the set lasted if it indeed will require replacement.
