What do I do to tune back on my labtop svreen it keep showing ablack screen?

I turn it on and come on but screen stay black i can mot sre anything

My labtop screen is black what do i do to make it show the picture

Could be a bad backlight or a bad LCD screen, does it show the BIOS loading at all or stays dark the whole time? Does it seem like it's loading normally aside from the screen issue? Once it's turned on and you think Windows is loaded, say 5 minutes, connect an external monitor to the system and use the FN key to send the video output to the monitor, if that works, look into getting the screen fixed.
