What is procedure for memory wipe on a Blackberry?

I have tried to reset a Blackberry in order to wipe the memory and
return it to something resembling "factory condition." The button on
the back doesn't do this and the three-fingered key combination
doesn't either.

I've seen posts implying others have discovered the hard-reset but no
comments on the procedure.

If anyone knows, can you share? Thanks heaps!

Hi Dave,

The easiest way to get the Blackberry back to factory conditions is to
do the following. From the desktop manager software - Click
Backup/Restore and then Click the advanced button. Select all sections
from the right hand pane of the window, click clear and select the
components you have selected in the warning dialogue box. This should
clear down all the messages, autotext and other handheld databases.
You should now have a clean device.
Please feel free to mail me if you have any other questions as I am
the Blackberry Administrator for our company.

Kind Regards

Barry

Thanks for your reply. I've been told that corruption can occur that
cannot be corrected by emptying the databases.
My current situation is the calendar items (single entries on the PC
running Outlook 2003) are sync'ed resulting in two entries on the
Blackberry. Many questions are posted but I've read only answers
stating a "hard reset" fixed it but no indication of the actual reset
procedure. Pressing the button in the hole on the back does not
resolve the issue (I've heard this procedure called a soft reset.)

Thanks for replying, I'd appreciate any wisdom you can impart.

The best way I've seen to wipe a Blackberry:

1. In the "Options" application, click on "Security Options"
2. Click on "General Settings"
3. Press the menu key
4. Select "Wipe Handheld" from the popup menu.
5. In the dialog box, click the check box for "Include third party applications"
6. Click "Continue"
7. Type the word "blackberry" to confirm the handheld wipe and then click

This completely resets the machine. When it comes back up it should start the setup wizard.

This is the procedure for a Blackberry Bold 9000. I've used very similar procedures for 7000 and 8000 series Blackberries.
