So for a while I recorded using Fraps, (non legal way) and it was dropping my FPS about 10-15 (20-25 intesnse). Then I stared using OBS it didn't drop but maybe 5 FPS. MY question, is are the PCI(e) recorders better that the software. If anyone can recommend any recording soft/hardware that would be appreciated. I'd not like to spend more that $50 USD. But IDK as much as some people.
If you have an nvidia gpu you can use shadow play, if not the avermedia ones are good without any hit on performance (but cost closer to 100). Other than that all I can think of is dealing with the drops.
A hard drive that's writing 120MB/sec video will write 10 GB in less than 2 min. That would mean a 10 min commentary is 50gb.
Just because it can write that fast doesn't mean it will. Depending on the quality Livid wants to capture at, he may need all of that speed or he may need half of that speed.
What i'm trying to say is that for 10min that is a huge file comprable to fraps so if he gets a recorder that compresses the file or uses a different recording technique it should be small in comparison
