Notebookcheck's excellent testing means you don't have to guess from benchmarks. They list actual test FPS they obtained on different games using the different GPUs in question...

Both are good even 980 has more Vram speed better gaming but 1060 can also handle everything easily
the difference is of Brand so i think you should go for which ever brand you feel comfortable with or which ever is giving better warranty service options

I've never used a gaming laptop because I prefer to build my own desktops. In general, a 1060 and 980 are pretty much equal. Performance in a laptop is probably going to depend on which one has better cooling so it can maintain maximum boost clocks more often.

The 1060 is a 120W card while a 980 is 165W so my gut tells me that the 1060 model will run cooler and have slightly better battery life but this really depends on the designs from Acer and HP. That larger SSD on the 980 machine is an advantage though.

Personally I would opt for the 1060. The GTX 980 draws enough power that combined with the CPU it probably exceeds the capacity of the laptop's AC adapter. Laptops which do this slowly drain their battery while plugged into run at full speed. When the battery is empty, the laptop throttles the CPU and GPU to keep them under the max power the AC adapter can supply.

The 1060 laptop probably does not do this, or if it does it does it slower enough that you'll be able to run the laptop at "full speed" for longer before the battery is drained.

Go for 1060, it generates less heat, and use less power. But has the same performance. So the 1060 will work better...
