What should I do?

My old asus laptop (not sure how old it is) wouldn’t run off of the old battery, I decided to buy a new battery but then it said 85% available so it should be charged, unplug it and the whole system shuts down, so I let it sit for 20mins and try it again, unplug it and it shuts down. I’m lost on what I should do

Charge it overnight. If this was a 3rd party cheap battery, could be the battery is bad.

I did charge it overnight and the light was blinking when I checked it, I’ll give it a couple more chances, the customer service was great. It could also be a bad battery like you said.
