I started out shpping for the Alienware m11x. For around $1600 US I would at least look at the ASUS G73JH
http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=8je5Ot4HBnKOdT81
The only downsides compared to the 11X are real world 1.5 hour battery life; and 7 pound weight. The specs are incredible, it will easily handle any modern game. I am waiting on my preorder, 17.3 HD screen, 1 TB storage, 8 GIG ram, the latest ATI mobile graphics card...

Bilabos, If you mean the Mesh Edge DX Pro that system looks great! The specs look really solid, a nice gaming rig. From what I have read 4 GIG ram is plenty for gaming and maximiing Win 7 64 bit performance. The cooling on the $1600 US ASUS is supposed to be excellent, I would like to see more information about the Mesh's cooling system. ASUS is also ranked number one in 3 year reliability for notebooks.
Another nice thing of you order from http://www.powernotebooks.com/ they will test the system B4 shipping (as long as you ask) and if you want to customize it they can do it and not void the generous warranty.

These Specs are amazing at that price. When you say 699 do you mean £699 ? That comes out to a little over $1000 US dollars!!!
I would be willing to buy one of these for a considerable premium over that price!!!That is a great friend you have.

p.s. the spec are a bit funny up there cause i rushed when i was typing ^^

As someone who owns BC2 I feel safe saying you'll need to spend a hefty amount on a laptop if you want to play it with the eye candy turned up. Just go browse over some BC2 benchmarks... particularly the ones at the lower resolutions. The mobility Radeon 5870 will do OK... but that is just the equivalent of a desktop Radeon 5770... so keep that in mind as you're browsing over benchmarks.
