Solved! where do i find the option to switch to HDMI view

I have my HDMI plugged into my laptop and my phone but I can't find where or if there is an HDMI ?"drive"?... I am trying to watch a movie on my laptop from my phone

The HDMI from the laptop is for output only. You cannot output from your phone to your laptop via HDMI.

Why not just copy the movie from the phone and save it to the laptop (via a USB cable)? Then just play directly.

Or, are you trying to tether the phone to the laptop for network connectivity?
