Please help me. I want to get a new laptop, but am not sure which to get and whether it is worth spending more for the Intel processor. Which is better the AMD A6-4400M Accelerated Processor or Intel i5-2450M?
^ concur, reason I'm sticking with my i5-2500K with no thoughts of upgding to IB.
Same-same for my i5-2410M Laptop (Laptop has HD300 + 540M dGPU - not a gamer so it's great.
The A6-4400M doesn't overclock, unlike llano, AMD trinity chips are locked down. I own one and have tried K10Stat and it doesn't even recognize the APU. Depending on what you're gonna use the laptop for either chip is a good choice at the right price. A lot of budget laptops are using these now.
Set power at high in power setters. It will overclock automicly. My went from 2700 to 3229.
Im surprised no one has caught the fact that he is buying a NEW laptop...but its coming with the last generation of Intel CPU. If you you are really buying a brand new laptop, they all have the newer 3xxx series of i5/i7.
Unless you are buying old inventory they want to move at an awesome price, look for the 3000 series of CPU.

Several people have mentioned that it comes with a Sandy Bridge CPU. Sandy Bridge performance is very close to Ivy Bridge performance, so there's nothing wrong with buying them at the right price. The only problem here is that it's relying on integrated graphics, where Sandy Bridge does have a large deficit compared to Ivy Bridge, at least when comparing the best iGPUs (HD 3000 vs. HD 4000).
Bottom line, performance is what matters, not being the latest and greatest.
