Which laptop is the better buy?

I am currently looking for a laptop for my girlfriend to purchase. I usually deal with desktops, but she insist she have a laptop. She isn't looking to do anything very intensive. She'd just like to play a few games here and there. We defiantly want 1920x1080 with at least 8GB of RAM. We would really like to stay around the $1000 range. I have two in mind here and would like you guys personal opinions on them. I don't have much experience with laptops, since I am not very fond of working on them. Let me know your thoughts and recommendations if you have other laptops for me to take a look at.

I'm personally leaning more towards the ASUS laptop because of the reviews of the Lenovo getting quite hot at times and it has 4 more GB of RAM. Let me know what you think, and thanks ahead of time!

the lenovo will be faster, but be a tiny hotter and have a shorter battery life.

personally would go the asus route. I was in same boat a few months back. I tried the asus g750, which was completely awesome, but way to big. I then narrowed it to the asus in question, Samsung ativ book 8, and theres a gigabyte small one. The gigabyte ran hot, so narrowed to asus and Samsung. Went Samsung as best buy had in stock and I could take their 30 day no question asked return policy for a spin if it didn't work out. Well I have and love the Samsung, but the asus is a damn good one as well.

Yes the Lenovo will run hot, and battery life isn't the greatest. Plus I just love asus's products, they really never let you down.

I have a y510p while the battery life isnt great, it isnt terrible either, only problem while in SLI is that nvidia optimus technology doesnt work, which allows the system to turn off the nvidia GPU and use the intel intergrated GPU which is a large power savings.

Both are good, and the downsides of each of them have already been listed. But, i would recommend to check this out too: http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834198039 . Its kind of in the middle of the two you listed in terms of graphics performance. It has a better video card than the asus, and slightly worst than the lenovo. ( I would say the 750m sli compares to a 770) . But, the fangbook is also 4 pounds heavier.

I think we're probably going to go with the ASUS. It just seems to have everything we are looking for and some. I like the Lenovo, but I am very familiar with the ASUS brand and I know they have quality products. Personally, I don't like the look of the Cyberpower laptop. It's not decided yet, but I'm leaning even more towards the ASUS side. Thanks everyone!
