Hi? I’m searching for a new laptop for this.
3ds Max (modeling and little rendering )
Unreal Engine (Video game design and programming)
Photoshop (not ultra intensive )
Little Video Editing
After navigating stores and stores my Options are narrowed to 2 finalists.

Asus
Ryzen 5 1600
8gb RAM
Rx 580 4gb
No ssd
1Tb hdd

Another Asus
I7 7700hq
16gb ram
Gtx 1060 6gb
128gb ssd
1tb hdd

I would appreciate your help
Prices are nearly the same
ALSO for economic reasons i can’t afford any upgrades un the near future

"Not great for any kind of fast-paced gaming and kind of dull in color"

It's Massive and bulky and also is going to run very hot at times and have a battery life of less than an hour, after about a year that will get worse as the Thermal past dries out.

No, that unit is an Exception and a Rarity. You typically don't see mobiles with desktop CPU's. In this case, the i7 7700hq is slightly faster in single core applications but nearly 50% slower in multicore. It uses nearly the slowest RAM speeds which show up in every application you use. I still think the Intel version is still a better value, you...

Desktop vs Laptop that is for you decide if you want mobility over the cluttersome typical Desktop.

Ryzen 1600 is nearly 40% faster over a i7 7700 in everything you listed.

The Laptop

Gtx 1060 6gb- Is slightly faster overall than the RX 580 4GB, you will also make more use of the added VRAM.

16GB of RAM- Most of what you listed is RAM intensive

SSD- Who doesn't like 10-second boots

I7 7700hq- Mobile CPU that still is very good at everything you listed but much slower than the Ryzen as to be expected.

A Ryzen 1600 is not a Mobile chip and it's much faster over the only Ryzen 5 mobile version.

These are the current mobile versions.

Ryzen 3 2200U....2 Cores...4 Threads....2.5-3.4 GHZ
Ryzen 3 2300U and 2300U PRO...4 Cores...4 Threads...2.0-3.4 GHZ
Ryzen 5 2500U and 2500U PRO...4 Cores...8 Threads...2.0-3.6 Ghz
Ryzen 7 2700U and 2700U PRO...4 Cores...8 Threads...2.2-3.8 GHZ

vs

i7 7700hq...4 Cores...8 Threads...2.8-3.8 GHZ

Cinebench 15 64-bit multi-core
i7 7700hq..........734..+24.6%
Ryzen 5 2500U...589..−24.6%

TrueCrypt AES
i7 7700hq..........4.1..+24.2%
Ryzen 5 2500U...3.3..−24.2%

Geekbench 4.0 64-bit single-core
i7 7700hq..........4453..+24.3%
Ryzen 5 2500U...3582..−24.3%

Geekbench 4.0 64-bit multi-core
i7 7700hq..........14010..+46.7%
Ryzen 5 2500U...9548..−46.7%

i7 7700hq..........8837..+20.3%
Ryzen 5 2500U...7345..−20.3%

*1060 6G is slightly faster over an RX 580 4Gb plus the added VRAM will help in Rendering
*16G of RAM vs 8G of RAM- let's face it 8 Gigs is the minimum you want for anything now.
*An SSD- Boot and application start times are insanely faster over a mobile hard drive.

I still see a better value in the Intel unit especially considering you're not wanting to upgrade anytime soon, the only advantage the 2500U has is it gets better battery life at the cost of performance.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from radioactivegames77 : "Searching for new gaming/productivity laptop"

I thought Ryzen was better, but that’s the only thing in which it would be better anyway. Would it be valuable for the better CPU?

I have a friend that has a Y720, he hasn’t noticed any issue
