Which to buy? Dell Precision Tower 3620 Core i7-6700 vs Zoostorm Evolve Core i7-7700

Hi all,

I intend to purchase the Zoostorm Evolve Core i7-7700 (£779) because it is much cheaper then the LESS WELL spec'd Dell Precision Tower 3620 Core i7-6700 (£1,279)

My question is - why is the Zoostorm SO much cheaper then the Dell? It can't just be branding, because the Zoostorm is more highly spec'd than the Dell as well...Unless Zoostorm is REALLY that bad, and I should go for the more expensive Dell?

Bearing in mind, I'm going to hook the tower up to two monitors and do pretty basic excel and powerpoint work...

So - which should I buy? Zoostorm or Dell?

Any advice / opinions / help would be much appreciated!

While I can't offer any conclusive answer, there are a few things to note:

1. Dell have always been very business-oriented and their desktops even more so. This Precision is squarely aimed at businesses (you'll note that it ships with Windows 7) and not private consumers like you. This will explain some of the price difference. Add to this that it comes with double the RAM and access to Dell's support services.

2. Zoostorm are a small PC designer outfit mostly known for their gaming laptops. There's nothing wrong with the Evolve, and for your intended use I can see no reason to spend an extra £500 just to get the Dell. Zoostorm don't need to pay thousands of support specialists around the globe, and their support plans are also most likely very different from Dell's.

3. If you're in charge of a giant company and about to buy hundreds, potentially thousands, of PCs, then Dell will be able to offer a sales and support structure that will see you through this process. Companies like that, and Dell will charge them accordingly. Zoostorm operate in a completely different market.

4. Get the Zoostorm, and when the time comes, the motherboard will support 32GBs of RAM as well.
