White and black stripes

I accidentally reset my lenovo laptop and now it won't turn on properly. It does turn on but the screen only displays white and black horizontal lines that changes ever minute or so. When I turn it on it would display a black screen then black lines would appear and then white ones suddenly appear. Tried draining it and removing the battery but none of it worked.

a) When you say you "accidentally reset" the laptop, what exactly did you do?
b) What is the full name of the Lenovo? (Sounds like a ThinkPad, but please tell us).
c) I have never heard of anyone "draining" a laptop - unless it's been dropped into a lake. What happened?

Off the top of my head, I'd say it sounds like someone knocked a ThinkPad into a bath-tub thereby causing CPU/GPU failure, possibly also RAM malfunction.

Or maybe you just need to restart the machine a couple of times and let it rest.

I was going to change the volume but I ended up clicking restart instead. It is a Y410P. I saw some people draining theirs so I did too.

First off, my apologies if I sounded a bit off-handed - I was having some problems understanding what happened.

Next, confusing volume buttons with restarting shouldn't cause screen failure so I'm still a bit mystified. But in your current situation, your best option is to locate the OneKey Recovery button right next to the power socket (it's a small button on the left side of the laptop - it shows a small curved arrow).

This will bring up a very basic screen with some options, e.g. factory reset which I suggest you try. NOTE: This will wipe out everything on your computer and restore it to the state when you bought it.

If this doesn't help, then I'm afraid your screen really is defective and needs to be replaced. If the Y410P is still under warranty, contact Lenovo. If it isn't, you can get replacement screens from laptopscreens.com or eBay.

Finally, about your 'draining' comment: Did you spill some liquid onto the keyboard? If you did, bear in mind that your Y410P is not a ThinkPad and therefore doesn't have the drain holes needed for this measure. Any liquid that may have entered through the keyboard area is likely to mess up your laptop quite badly. And Lenovo's warranty on consumer-grade machines typically doesn't cover spills.

Let's hope a factory reset will do the trick,
