Question Why are my text being sent out 2 messages at a time according to my screen?

I have a Google Pixel 2, running Android Q beta. My carrier is Straight Talk Wireless. I'm using Google's messaging app. The latest version of course. Any suggestions?

Can you get a screen capture, block out any personally identifiable info in it, then share it? It'll be best to see what you're seeing, if at all possible.

Then it isn't your "Phone" that is sending out two messages, but the Google App. The phone's texts would be a different application.
