Thanks. I was kinda hoping for one because the gtx 780m and 770m are a little beyond my budget and the 8970m seems to perform very well for the price but I don't want an a10

Haha. Are you a big Intel fan?

The Radeon HD 8970m is a discrete graphics card / chip for laptops. It is not an integrated graphics core.

Actually, that is incorrect.

The Radoen HD 8970m is an MXM format graphics card for laptops; version 3.0b I think.

The MXM formats are basically graphic cards designed specifically for expensive gaming laptops with an MXM port. The version denote the size of the MXM graphics card; the higher the number the larger / thicker the graphics card. That means you cannot stick a MXM 3.0 graphics card in a laptop that can only use MXM 2.0 graphics card.

The MXM format is reserved only for high end graphics cards so that you will never be able to find a GT 730m MXM card. Additionally, some laptop manufacturers solder MXM cards into the MXM slot which make them non-upgradeable.

What jaguarskx said is kinda what I mean. I'm not talking about intel's integrated graphics, if I'm not mistaken the amd radeon 8970m is a dedicated card and not a integrated. I was searching for a laptop with a haswell i7 or i5 or even an ivy bridge i7 with the 8970m since its a cheaper alternative to the 770m and 780m but I can't seem to find any
