Why did I get a WARNING all data will be lost if... What caused the warning? Is it true?

I did the same routine as usual to turn on my Toshiba and received a WARNING in huge letters saying I would lose all my data if I did not...answer yes or no I turned off my machine and everything was normal again. I was assuming I had been attacked by a hacker. But, everyone seems to be concerned about how to reset their laptop, so I am worried that the warning is true.

It would help if you had a screenshot. It could be malware or an ad, or it could be a SMART warning that your HDD is expected to fail imminently.
