Why is Sony holding off on selling their PS2's????

Now you all know that Sony is holding off on selling their PS2's. They only sold about 500 000 in North America (CND & US). Now I had the money to buy one on the release date but never put my name to reserve one. Now in 2 weeks I will have a crap load of moola to spend on one but I'm having second thoughts just because there aren't any available. I thought Sony wanted to MAKE money not hold out! Am I the only one here who is pissed cause Sorny (can't even say it anymore cause I'm so mad) won't sell them anymore?

P.S: To all you losers selling your PS2'S on Ebay for more than 520$(CND), YOU SUCK!!!!! Anybody stupid enough to buy a PS2 for more than the retail price has obviously too much money and an IQ in the negative!

P.P.S: For those who managed to sell their PS2's on Ebay for a ridiculous amount, you get my congratulations for finding a sucker and another stupid citizen roaming the earth spending his or her money like the foolish idiot he or she is.

I may be ridicilously ignorant, but I was under the impression it was because they were stupid enough to market it beyond their manufacturing abilities. In other words, its not like they have a warehouse of PS2s sitting around and not selling it -- they just can't build them as fast as people are buying them. Which is still not a very good marketing strategy, but not as bad as holding back caches of gaming units for the heck of it

You know after I posted this I read about it some more and your right Kodiak. But I'm still pissed and I still want one!

Another good point you made is that they really should make more (obviously)!!! I mean Sony isn't some samll company from some dudes basement soldering together parts to make a PS2! We're talking a huge corporation that just can't meet the demands, like Intel. Oh well, I guess I'll spend my money on something else.

Admittedly, Sony really screwed up the American launch...but you really have to consider the logistics of manufacturing and transporting half a million PS2s...I was not suprised when they couldn't meet shipping promises.

Of course I got one, so I suppose I am not the person you want to hear this from

Heh here in Cambridge MA they have a sh!tload of them at the Electronics Boutique all at retail 299 prices. Seems no one here is really buying them. I bought one last night and SSX kicks ass. Oh well I guess it depends on where you live maybe?
