Why my laptop turn off when i use the adapter ?

When i'm using the battery of my tochiba satellite the laptop works fine but once i use the adapter the computer turn off after 3-6 min .

It could be overheating. When in battery mode, the CPU downclocks, etc so it won't drain the battery. When plugged in, the CPU ramps up to full and thus overheats and shuts off.

Is the laptop manually overclocked? Hint: OC'd is also used for the term "overclocked".
