why wont my samsung galaxy s2 turn on?

yesturday i was on my phone when it turned off. it buttons on the bottom were still of so i took the battery out and put it back in. then i tried to put it on charge but it wouldn't. i tried to start it while it was charging but that didnt work either. how!

put into recovery mode and install new firmware..

Will updating the hardware clear my harddrive?
Mine is flashing the samsung galaxy white writing and wont go any further. i just want it on long enough to get the photos off it. Any advice? i went to a phone store yesterday they charged me $75 to change the mother board but it worked for like 5 hours and i was at work so by the time i got home to tranfer the photos it was dead again.
