Will the original ram from a Dell inspiron 9200 laptop work in a Dell inspiron 9100 laptop?

The 9100 is having issues and I think it might be the ram.

I would try it, but I don't want anything to blow up.

Is there any risk in trying it?

Since both use the same DDR RAM, yes, it's safe to use the RAM from the other laptop in the faulty 9100. RAM falls into standard families, nowadays DDR3, previously DDR2 and in the case of these older laptops, DDR1.
