Will rooting remove carriers lock

I want to unlock my metro pcs phone. Can i root the device to unlock the phone and use with other carrier?

The phone lock is not inside the phone, it is between the phone and the carrier. Rooting will not change that. A MetroPCS phone should not be locked with the exception of a few iPhones they sold cheap where they are locked to Metro.
