Will this laptop be able to run most games?

It should run it maybe but not very well or near high settings. i would spend 650 on building your own desktop pc if you want to game or buy an xbox one. either would be WAYYYYYY better than that labtop.

No you would not be able to run most games on that laptop. It doesn't have dedicated graphics. You'd struggle getting Solidworks to run as well.

You need something with dedicated graphics. The Lenovo Z510 would be much better, or you could get this one if you can order through Amazon.co.uk.

It has a much more powerful i5-4200M and Nvidia GT 740M graphics which would be well capable of running games and your programs in its native resolution.

This, the 740M is guaranteed to run all those games on very high settings.

a gtx 850M runs circles around anything in this price range.
with £650 you can get a 1080p screen, 8GB RAM, I5 processor and gtx 850M.
