Can't we all get along? I run Win 7 64 on my gaming self built rig (thanks newegg). At first I was reluctant to use steam but have become use to it and like the fact I do not have to put in the games disk to play but I will never accept of buy a game that requires GFWL. Did it once with Fallout 3 never again. If you buy Fallout 3 Game of the Year, a must buy, excellent game there is a easy work around to not need to use the crappy GFWL copycat service.
Just install the all of the game. Download the patches from the web separately. You will need to step the patches something like this 1.3 then 1.5 up till you have the latest, 1.7 I think. Once you have it updated you will have to use the install DVD to bring up the game launcher so you can turn on the 5 game expansions. Remove the game CD and put it away, you will not need it again.
Do not use the default launcher/icon in the Windows start menu that points to Fallout3launcher.exe, just delete the icon from your start menu. Find the Fallout 3 folder on your HD and make a start menu shortcut to the Fallout3.exe Application file by dragging it to your start menu. Be careful not to try and use the Fallout3.exe catalog file, it won't work. Done enjoy.
I use a Macbook for my main PC and am glad to see more games on the Open GL Mac platform. My STEAM account allows me to play the Orange Box on my Macbook if I wish even though the game was bought for the Windows Platform, pretty cool.
