Windows 7 won't shut down on MSI laptop

Hello,

I have a MSI Dominator GT70 2QD laptop and it came with windows 8.1.
Recently i have updated my Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and i was not happy with it because my laptop had many errors from windows 10 and it freezed alot.
So i downgraded back to Windows 7 because i do not like windows 8.1.

But, now i have a problem with my Windows 7, it won't shut down completely.
I reinstalled windows 7 like 6 times already and it still won't shut down completely.
When i want to shut down my Laptop it shuts down windows and my screen but my fans keep spinning and my powerbutton light and keyboard lights stays on.

When i had windows 8.1 and windows 10 on my laptop i didn't have that problem.

I have realy no clue what it could be, i also checked the Bios multiple times but i can't find anything what it could be. (But i am no computer genius.)

Also i have read on some forums that it could be the Motherboard that is defect, but i recently returned it to the shop and they checked the laptop and sayd everything was fine.
The laptop is only like an half year old.

(Also my girlfriend had the exact same problems with windows 10 but it seems it solved the problem on its own after a few weeks but we are still keeping a eye on it.)


Update 1:
The laptop doesn't always refuse the shut down completely.
My laptop refuses to go in to hibernate.
My power button is always orange and standard it needs to be orange.
(White indicates that the laptop is not busy, orange indicates that the laptop is busy,).
But it's not busy.

Are you pressing the power button or going into start menu to press shut down.

It will default sleep on power button unless you change it in the "change what the power button does" setting window.

I'm shutting down with the shut down option in the start menu, also checked the configurations but it seems to be fine.

Also what may be good to know is that my laptop doesn't always refuse the shut down completely.
And my laptop refuses to go in to hibernate.
And also that my power button always lights up un the collor orange and it originally needs to be white.
Originally the collor orange shows that the laptop is busy with something but it is not.
( I will update this extra info into the topic if i can.)

It probably isn't a hardware problem. The OS installation is probably corrupt somehow. Try doing a OS repair. Or, reload the OS.

I also think it's not the hardware.
The OS could be corrupt but i already re-installed the OS like10 times so thats not working sadly.

I think it has something to do with the windows updates because most of the time the error occurs when i have done all windows updates.
I think its the Intel Management Engine update from windows in particular but i still have to check it out.
Right now i don't realy have the time for that because i need my laptop for school and need to do alot of work because i was falling behind because i was not able to use my laptop.

Sorry you are having such a tough time. We upgraded all three of the W 7 machines to 10, Pro and home versions. A lot of buggy problems completely disappeared with 10. 10 requires virtually no maintenance. All new drivers with 10 and security issues fixed and features and usability is great. 7 is a 7 + year old OS and 10 is superior in every way. Try going to 10 again. Yeah, these things take a lot of time. Let me know if ya still have problems after that and we will do what we can.

P.S. MS is constantly improving 10. We even deleted the .old folders after the 10 upgrades and won't ever go back to 7. Keep pluggin away at what ya hafta do and things will work out.

also i have a lot of people in my class who have a awfull lot of roblems with windows 10.

right now my laptop is working fine but it won't shut down, but for now i put it in hibernate when i normally shut down my laptop.
it's a temporary fix but it works so i can do my school work first right now.

Make sure W 10 is updating properly and do so manually, if necessary. Kinda make ya wonder if the hardware is up to the job or infections or too much stuff installed is causing problems. One other small trick that can fix a lot of little things is to remove the battery, and power cord of course, during a prolonged shutdown. This will not cause any data loss or damage. All three of our machines run perfectly, and I do mean perfectly.. An X99 custom machine, an older i7 2600 desk top and a several year old duo core cheapo Lenovo.

i noticed the battery and adapter tricks on my girlfriends laptop, very strange tricks i must say but it works.
im going to try win10 out around january next year i guess, hope things are working out better for me around that time. 😛
