I want Windows 8 to work with both x86 and ARM and I want to see notebooks and Desktops with both an x86 cpu and an ARM SOC.

That way if I want to do something cpu or gpu intensive I can fire up the x86 hardware, if I want to just browse the web or watch a video I fire up the ARM hardware. I could then drastically decrease the amount of power consumption in my PC while still be being able to run everything I need to on 1 device.

"Only run signed code."

Geez woman, get back to the kitchen, you don't belong anywhere but there.

Because of this single article I will not be returning to Toms. You are an idiot madam, and were Windows to turn into the the monster you propose I would most likely switch to Linux and learn to adapt. Taking away personal choice and personal responsibility from the personal computer is a poor choice.

One thing I wish to see in Win8:
The parameters for "Region, Language and Date and Time" and "Keyboard" should be selected independently (freely) by the user of the particular computer. For example, I'm living in Germany, using a German keyboard, selecting English as the Display Language, Preferring the number format of US, and so on. This kind of preferences always caused certain problems. For example, while installing a program it automatically seltcts the language for you depending on the "Region" you entered. (I'd like to think this kind of softwares are too much cleaver!).

The past days I had a close encounter with a "smart phone" and a got a feeling of what it will be when the OS will arrange everything in the background and I have all it ready, the proper application opening the proper media, no need to know where on the phone it is, data being categorized by their metadata and the smart guess of the software. It all "just worked", but I felt an excruciating pain in my throat from holding back my screams at the device. But then I could get new software for the phone, lucky Android, and I did, and nothing preventing me from having the best of both worlds. Still, to me a phone is just a phone. Maybe also with a camera and mp3 player but it's not a work platform, not even on the run. No fun to even read there, will be used as last resort.
What I basically wanted to say is that I bet windows8 will bring the "dumbed down user experience", UI and everything, because the majority of windows users would benefit a lot from it. But it will not be limited to that, bringing power users the power to handle all as they wish. That way normal users will stay computer illiterate and power users will still get a profession even for the simplest things the normal user can't do and won't bring themselves to learn.

What about the file size inconsistencies:
Folder sizes not shown in explorer, this would be useful.
(right now I have installed a program for that and everything works fine)

The horrible mess file(and folder)-sizes are.
In three different places, windows interface shows three different numbers for the size of the same file.
And uses 1024 divisions while using decimal prefixes.
It should be 1024 with binary prefixes or 1000 with decimal prefixes but not a combination.
Most people erroneous assume it's divided by 1000 and powers of them.
Please fix this MS. (How? I don't know put both in it or something.)

shouldn't your computer organize things
@Reporter:
organizing things on the level you ask requires a lot of cognitive capabilities that even state of the art artificial intelligence cannot currently provide.
A computer is a calculator, it can NOT calculate toward a goal WITHOUT knowing the parameters.
In this case, how you want it to be sorted.

6. Update Everything From Everyone, Tell Me Once
@Reporter:
Take a look at Linux package managers.
And package distribution methods with ppa's and archives.
They're in a what modified form what you want.
Seems to me like it's coming: http://coapp.org/

Having a restore that actually works would be very refreshing.

shouldn’t you still be able to undelete the photo you accidentally deleted on the old PC as long as you’ve transferred your information across?
No, it's clear that you don't understand the concept of deleting.

It's bad enough that when deleting stuff, windows doesn't actually deletes it per se.
But making that transferrable opens up a whole can of problems.
(imagine deleted stuff e.g. porn pics accessible without installing software on both computers:
new just-bought and old giving away.)

Battery-life:
More detailed information would be helpful indeed.
(We're going to be needing a standard for that device side and windows api side.)

But to say that windows 8 needs to have more battery life is out of place.
The thing is that battery life depends on the hardware and drivers.
There isn't much MS and Windows can change besides being efficient with hardware.
It all comes down to what windows runs on.
Please don't try to give people the illusion/impression that windows is EVERYTHING makes a device power-hungry or not.

FYI: Running windows 8 for arm was more a matter of building a compiler that produces arm-instructions than anything else.

Web apps:
This one is actually a whish for IE10 or whatever comes after that.

@reporter
Only running signed code?
Well the criminals are just going to steal a certificate then.
The people who need measures like this won't be able to defend themselves against that because they would be too unwilling to check things like owner of the certificate and google it.
What you suggest could be even making it easier for hackers since people have now a false sense of security and are more willing to run apps from all kinds of sources.

No, No,No.

I'm not security violator BUT im a developer. Signing code takes additional money that I dont have and tims. Most code I run is my own and is unsigned.

I would suggest a "taskbar group" that could be easely accessible via right-click on the task bar, that would allow me to choose from various "taskbar group" each one with it respective set of icons. Example i' was an angeneer i would like "load" the task bar with the icons, containing the shortcut for engenerring programs, if i was a doctor, i would load the task bar containing the icons to shortcut to medical programs installed, if i was a developer, would load the taskbar containing all the shortcuts to the bunch of software related to development, and so on... that would be great!! other thing it would be the change of the taskbar layout at a click of a mouse, exemple changing it to mac style menu at the bottom, with icon reflection effect and so on.. that would greatly fill the eyes of the end user, i think. That's all for now.
