Predicting what's going to happen 3 years ahead in the high-tech world are they? Yeah, good luck with that one.

While WP7 is very good, and in my opinion will be better than iOS in 2013. I think 2015 is wishful thinking for market penetration.

LOL more like windows phones will share the same fate as the kin by 2015

Think about it. If these devices could run a 64 bit Windows 7 operating system or Mac OS, they would be.

why would anyone want to run a desktop OS on there phone? its called a phone for a reason

Well that counts you out for a start and every other Apple-tard in the room

Interesting that my comment of saying WP7 is good was thumbed down.

WP7 will not surpass iOS anytime soon, 2015 is very wishful on microsoft's part. To me, the objective isn't to surpass iOS, it's to surpass android. THAT will be a challenge. But they can do it. WP7 is a good product, and if microsoft actually(this will never happen) get a proper marketing team out there, they could do it

Predicting mobile OS dominance 3 years from now ... haha ... that's seriously funny. What's your next magic trick IHS?

Lets see, what is IHS running record of accurate forecasts in the Mobile device business is ... searching, searching ... drum roll ... nada, zip, zero, not a one.

Yeah, I'm sure everyone wants a phone with a "metro" interface that looks like it was pulled from Windows 3.11 circa early 1990's.

I am not interested in developing apps for comparable benchmarking, but I have a strong suspicion that my Iphone greatly outperforms my five year old XP laptop. No matter the metric, 3d graphics check, 2d check, file system check(64gb internal SS), when I have had Safari choke on websites, the same website may fly on Opera for IOS and frankly fly past the XP mainstream laptop. I use VNC just fine on IOS, hows that for scaling real programs with a bastard interface.
In other notes, many Toms commenters plug their ears and go lalala at actual benchmarks when it comes to Iphones.
In closing why does iBeer cost a buck on IOS and is free on Android? Because it can.

I would like to see all operating systems available for most devices. Users shouldn't be tied down to Android, iOS, Windows or whatever, when they purchase the smartphone/tablet/laptop/desktop they have chosen.
If Microsoft will achieve just that, in the sense that Windows will work on anything with a popular processor, then these predictions seem realistic.

Microsoft aren't that bad though. They have hardware requirements, which I think is good. That way you don't get some crap phone which isn't cut out to running the OS.

I think the 1ghz restriction is fantastic

there's only one reason why iphones are the most popular and it's not necessarily because they're that awesome, it's the huge number of apps that are available on iOS that just aren't available on Windows or Android systems.

I wouldn't say not available for android, they have a tonne of apps? WP7 is growing fast, but not quite there yet

I really hope it would, so those smug Apple fanboys have another reason to cry to sleep.
