Nuclear Blast/Century media FTW!!!(Non RIAA Labels) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_Blast First paragraph. Might not be everyone's cup of tea though. All metal genres and some hardcore punk, but no Jonas Brothers or Justin Beiber or Brittany Spears.lol. Here's a list of all their bands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nuclear_Blast_artists Don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty sure I read that they share the profits 50/50 with their artists. Too bad the other labels are not like that....

[citation][nom]bustapr[/nom]Why sue a person for that much if you know theyre not going to pay. Id just make him go to jail...And how the hell, are you happy with a 1.5mil ruling, but also be satisfied with 25k.[/citation]
They don't want the money, they want to set a precedent.

The real question is how much of the settlement goes to artists and publishers, and how much to the RIAA.

the music industry is already overrated... I just imagine, a person studying Engineering and nueroscience, spending 20 times the mental effort and gets paid only a couple of thousand dollar at the end of every month... Whereas these musicians, (ok, Talent is something that is sometimes God-gifted and not acquired), but that doesn't meant that they will exploit that and make millions over night...

Just imagine the effort involved, and the amount of money they are earning... the music industry is somewhat same as a porn industry... they know what people want, and they exploit it.. Less effort, more money...

pay the $54,000 and keep in place the Judge's ruling that the million dollar fine was crazy & ridiculous... she isn't going to have to really pay it anyways...the cost of all this in the courts is bad enough.... but... too late now ...3 strikes..its a wrap !!!

[citation][nom]stryk55[/nom]Or...you could actually pay money for original content created by others... $.99/song is not too much too much to ask if you truly enjoy what you are getting and if you listen to it 100 times in your life, it's been a pretty worthwhile investment....[/citation]

Actually $1 is quite a bit when you add up all the songs that are out there. The average person has what? 1000 to 5000 songs? That's a lot of cash. If you had been paying for every song for the last 5 years when they really started cracking down on piracy, that would be $1000 per year, more than any other service on the planet. If you were on the lower end of the average, $200 per year is still a crapload.

Maybe if someone who gets caught insists on the death penalty, likely a depressed person, the contrast of the punishment to the crime will make us stop the insanity. I might do that instead of having a soul crushing debt steal my time and effort for the rest of my life.
