I have little to no idea of what to get, i will be using a laptop for school, media, gaming on the side (sc2 and the likes) and i was wondering would this be able to play sc2 on medium or higher settings?

i the first number is higher but i remember hearing that the thousands digit dosent matter with graphics cards.

6490M is a low-end card.I don't recommend it for gaming

2nd laptop MUCH better than first. (i5-2410M no contest - is newest Intel Sandy bridge.)

I think the SC2 Requirements are referencing the desktop graphics cards.
And the Radeon Mobility HD 3870 isn't the nearly as powerful as the desktop model.

You are correct about the 3870 being a desktop GPU.
My point was to compare the model 6490M to desktop 3870

Added: I would prefer the Asus as it has a much better reliability rating than acer

The first laptop has 5650M which is old but it's still notably faster than 6490M
