I'm waiting on DX11 and i5.

I'm sure my $100 4830 can run rounds around the 360/PS3. Those with CrossFire/SLI could run 20-30x around the PS3/360.

[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]Can get the Pro at Target right now for $249.99 with two controllers. As of right now if I'm going to spend $300 it will be on a PS3 but for $250 and two controllers that is a pretty good deal. Those controllers are so ridiculously overpriced. Of course for a lot of people blu-ray is a wash because the discs are so stupidly expensive. I own exactly one blu-ray movie, Hoosiers, that I picked up from Fry's for $10.99. The wi-fi is nice but for blu-ray to mean anything for me the average price of the discs needs to be cut by 65%.[/citation]
The Pro model I got last year only came with one controller but also included a wireless adapter. The controller didnt matter since I had already bought a wired 360 controller to use on the PC.

@299 the PS3 is the better buy, regardless of which console you are a fanboy of.

As a PS3 owner... i think we can all agree the 360 has a better selection of games :(

[citation][nom]pharge[/nom]hmm... 360 Elite (120G HD) = PS3 slim (120GHD + Blu-ray + wifi)= $299hmm... hardware wise.... 360 Elite seems way overpriced....yes we can take the software into account.. but that becomes very subjective... then it is all about the personal preference or the purpose of having the console.Anyway... from the hardware point of view... 360 Elite seems way overpriced even after the discount.[/citation]
If you're only gonna look at hardware then a PC will always win. ;)

360 Arcade / Core = same price of $200... its already sold at a loss.

Dman3k : "P.S. Wifi on the PS3 is only G. For those who like to do not like mixed modes, the wifi is USELESS!"

Only an idiot would think that using a G device with an N network is useless. N Routers can talk to G, B and A. So its a NON-ISSUE. Thats kind of like some moron refusing to buy a PCIe 2.0 video card (4850) because his motherboard only has PCIe 1.x.

And as stated, an add-on wireless adapter is still possible for the
PS3.

I've stated before that the price of a PS3 at $400 was a fair price compared to the 360 Elite. A slightly smaller HD, but hey - BluRay, Wireless built-in. At $300... the new PS3 gives even more value over the 360.

1 - No RRODs.... ;)
2 - Almost silent operation, vs JET ENGINES.
3 - Cooling issues.
4 - Smaller size
5 - The power brick on an Xbox360 is almost as big as the new PS3.
6 - The PS3 doesn't HAVE a power brick, its PSU is on the inside.
7 - BluRay included.
8 - BluRay movies are about $3~8 more than DVD versions.
9 - More hardware for less price
10- No monthly charges to hear cursing 12 yr olds or 40yr olds ;)
11- Want more than 120GB? Easy and cheap on the PS3. The 360 has to be MODDED... currently no upgrades above 120 (360 BIO doesn't support bigger HD).

[citation][nom]Belardo[/nom]Only an idiot would think that using a G device with an N network is useless.[/citation]Everyone knows N routers has backward compatibility, just as every knows that mixed modes decreases network performance. What an idiot.

There is no question hardware-wise, Sony's system got Microsoft beat. Software-wise Microsoft is way better than Sony and that's an understatement. Microsoft has a better online service, game collection, and graphics on the oh-so-lowly system looks better on the X360 than PS3. All the PS3 could do is try to match graphical performance. There has not been a single case where a game look better on the PS3 than on the X360.

And let's talk RROD, Microsoft actually would fix or replace hardware for free. Sony doesn't.

Blu-Ray movies cost $3-8? I know a dvd at best buy in the $5.99 bin and still cost $22.99 in blu-ray. Let me correct you on the math...

Silent operation... rofl, long loading screens vs short loading screens...

monthly charge? I thought it's yearly... but hey, we can split it up and call it monthly if you want!

I've never owned a XBox360, and I even I know the facts from the myths. But then, you had me at how it's a non-issue for mixed-mode haters. What an idiot!

P.S. I'm fine running mixed-modes cause I'm too cheap to spent $20 on wireless 2.4 ghz n usb sticks for all 9 computers in the house.

@dman3k

Me and my roomies have 5 computers on a WLAN, as well as two PS3's, a 360, and a Wii. All of them are hooked into the network, and were in an apartment. The Wifi built into the Wii and PS3's is extremely helpful and cuts down on the cable mess we have. It also runs fine, despite being on a 2.4 GHz N network. The only time I have experienced a slow down was when a torrent was being downloaded on one of the computers, a video was being streamed to the PS3, and my buddy was playing Halo on his 360. All five of us have gamed online at the same time, 2 on PS3's, 1 on 360, and 2 on computer, without any slowdown.

Also your information is horribly off. The PS3 beats the 360 by about 10 seconds in Bioshock loading screens, and by about 5 in COD. The 360 sounds like a leaf blower unless a game is installed to the HDD, simply due to the crappy optical drive that microsoft put in. The PS3 is actually whisper quiet and it makes gaming a lot nicer when your gaming at a desk (I've owned both systems, and sold the 360 to get a PS3).

Xbox Live is a monthly subscription. $8 for 1 month of Live (here in Canada), and $60 for a 12 month subscription.

As for Blu-Ray prices. I was in HMV a few days ago and purchased The Dark Knight (great movie :D) in Blu-Ray. It was $28.99 vs $24.99 for the DVD version, and the Blu-Ray copy came with a coupon to download a digital copy of the movie (the DVD didn't include that).

Please don't pretend you know everything about everything, especially if your going to admit that you've never owned a 360.

At my former job (game publisher) we had 360's and PS3s around the building in game displays showing off our new releases and for employees to play. The PS3s were the ones that sounded like leaf blowers. We had to shut them all off because people were complaining they couldn't do their work with all that noise.

SneakySnake: you just said it yourself... a torrent and 1 video stream brought your network to a crawl... your consoles playing games don't consume very much bandwidth at all.. but imagine 3 children on social networking sites and streaming video to their TV sets in the background, then the wife and myself have separate HD streams to where ever we are in the house and maybe a bittorrent here and there and not even N is enough... you must live in a Faraday encased apartment, because i live in an adjacent lot to one and we have constant issues with them bringing up poorly configured AP/Routers all the time... look on any forum for wireless help and it's the same thing... and we haven't even gotten into the fact that we have a few skype fones and various other end point devices such as printers and security cameras and the saturation is ridiculous... some of those things can't be put on the wire since we can't put wire in the walls living in a leased townhouse...

Well, there is a strong argument for buying a PS3: you can install YD Linux on it, plug in a keyboard and a mouse, and there you have a nice PC replacement.
Also, due to the PowerPC core in it, you can even compile stuff on it, like in a "standard" machine, which is an important feature for me.

If you play only a couple of times in a month (like i do due to my job) and you work most of the time, it is easier to buy a PS3 slim, and boot it up with Linux or sometime with a game.
Put it in this way the PS3 is a lot cheaper, and it is a better investment.
I am thinking about selling my expensive PC which i use for text editing and Blending anyway, and sometimes watching movies, because i simply do not have the time to play games anymore.

360s are for gamers. Esp the ones that want to play with anyone. I got too many friends who have PS3s that use them primarily as Blu-Ray players. Live >>>> PSN... Live costs money, but basically everyone who subscribes believe that its worth it.

But whatever, PC gaming rules!

First of all, lets get real here, the last 360 system changes have not been out in the market long enough to have a 50%+ failure rate. I believe the first xbox360 took 6 months befor MS knew they had a bad problem and about 10+ months befor they knew they had a 50%+ problem. The New REDESIGNED consoles, the Slim PS3, the New Xbox360 Elite(new box,no hdmi cable) are both new to the market and do not have a failure rate yet. If you decide to get a Xbox360, the arcades with builtin memory have so far had the lowest failure rates(maybe even lower than the PS3's, still to early to tell, they are around 12 months old and doing good), if they still exist Do Not get a 20gigPro(50%+ failures, failure lifespan 9 months), the older Elites with hdmi cables and the 60gigPros(25%+ failures, the older the console the higher the failure rate, failure lifespan 12 months). From what Ive read, the new elites without hdmi cables are built with the same insides as the newest arcades minus the builtin memory and a few tweeks to increase the chances of a longer life. As for the PS3, the older units have low failure rates, somewhere between 15 to 23% or less. So on the newer consoles you have a 50/50 chance of geting a good one or a bad one. So if you have been wanting a Blueray player get a PS3, its the better buy. If you want to play games on the internet for free then get a PS3. If you have a Netflix unlimited plan and a fast broadband internet then get a Xbox360, you get free streaming from Netflix. If you want to try games out befor you buy(demos), text or voice chat with another Xbox360 owner anywhere in the world for free then get a Xbox360. If you want to play games with other xbox360 owners you will have to pay, with or without a credit card. For a Whole Year $50(US), for 3 months $20(US). And what else do you get for this money? You get five channels of voice chat, one In Game channel(have to be in same game), 4 private one on one channels(while doing anything on your xbox), and one friends only private party channel with multiple people (while doing anything on your xbox). The money is so MS can make sure the servers for the games meet certain standards. Providing you with easy, no hassle multiplayer game play.

By the way, is anybody here old enough to remember the 1st and 2nd generation PS1's which had heat related high failure rates, yes thats right, the great Sony had them there heat problems back in the day and they made it very difficult to deal with, no freebie fixes.

[citation][nom]SneakySnake[/nom]I was in HMV a few days ago and purchased The Dark Knight (great movie ) in Blu-Ray. It was $28.99 vs $24.99 for the DVD version.[/citation]First of all, mixed modes decreases performance, sometimes significantly. Try to disprove that.

Second, it's great that you're using the best selling Blu-ray movie of all time as your example. Let's use the movie Gladiator for example. $26.99 vs $12.49. I'm pretty sure that's more than $8.

So who's pretending now? You're an absolute idiot.

See all these people disproving your myth about the leaf blower and the your loading time PS3 is better than X360 lie? Accept the facts, you and I have wasted $500 on the PS3.

WOW, this place just reeks with fanboys. Look, the wii, 360, and PS3's have their pros and cons, if either the 360 or the PS3 were just as bad as anyone described then they wouldn't even be selling. And ANYTHING that's cheaper is OK in my book ;)
