XPS 18 or Surface Pro 2

Lets just say that both can be found for around $900 (i5 versions). What would you recommend? Just an IMHO question.

If you can get the Surface Pro 2 go for it. It's a sweet tablet, has an i5, and is full Windows 8 and runs .EXE files.
