you cant hear sound through a new pair of headphones? try this!

Make sure all of your drivers are up-to-date and that it is plugged in correctly, do not mix up the headphone jack with the mic jack, check for bare wires on your headphones and make sure that your slots on the pc are not blocked by trash/string ( this may happen if you carry it in a backpack.)
