Cursor in MS Access 2013 Does Not Move to Next Field or Row When Enter Key Is Pressed

When MS Access 2013 is installed along with MS Office 2013 package, as per its default configuration, the cursor in the cells of a table moves either to the next field or to the next row every time the Enter key is pressed on the keyword. The direction of the movement of the cursor in MS Access 2013 depends upon the configuration of the program. By default the program is set to move the cursor to the next field of the table. This process continues till the cursor reaches the last field of the table. When the cursor reaches the last field that the table has, and you press the Enter key again, the cursor then moves to the next row/record of the table.

This default configuration is available in MS Access 2013 in order to make the task simpler for the database administrators or the end users. However there might be instances when you experience some obnoxious behavior. As in this situation, the cursor is not responding to the Enter key when it is pressed by the user. There can be several reasons behind it. For example, the keyboard might not be functioning properly, the Enter key might not be functioning properly, the keyboard might be disconnected from the computer, keys need to be brushed up, and so on. However when talking about MS Access 2013, and assuming that the issue might be the misconfigured settings of the program, the steps given below will guide you through the process of reconfiguring the MS Access 2013 application so that pressing the Enter key moves the cursor either to the next field or to the next row.

Here’s what you need to do:

■Log on to the computer using any account.

■Make sure that MS Access 2013 is successfully installed on the computer and is running flawlessly.

■Open the program and open the desired database as well.

■On the opened interface, go to the FILE tab.

■From the displayed list, click Options.
