While using Facebook, many times you might not want to be disturbed by random friends while interacting with any personal friend or especially when having conversation over professional matters. In such cases, you might wish to remain invisible to those unwanted friends to avoid disturbance.
If you wish to turn off chat availability for certain people and still remain online for the others, you need to follow the steps described below:
On the chat window of your Facebook account, only the members in the specified list will be able to see you online.

- ■On your browser, open Facebook.com.
■On the Facebook’s welcome screen, login with your credentials.
■On the homepage of your account, click on the chat tab present at the bottom right corner of the screen and click on the little gear symbol.
■From the menu that appears, select Advanced Settings.
■On the Advanced Chat Settings box that appears next, click the Turn on chat for only some friends radio button.
■On the interface that opens up, enter the names of the people individually or a whole list for whom you wish to remain online. (Family list in this demonstration).
■Once done, and click Save.
On the chat window of your Facebook account, only the members in the specified list will be able to see you online.
